Make guilt free and gluten free namak pare for festivals or just healthy snacking. This recipe uses Jowar flour to make traditional Namak Paras.
INGREDIENTS
Jowar Flour 100 gms
Whole wheat Flour 50 gms
Ajwain 1 Tbsp
Salt as per taste
Oil (1 tbsp)
Water for kneading the dough
Oil for frying / Air fryer
INSTRUCTIONS
Sieve the Jowar and wheat flour together
Add ajwain and salt to this mix
Add the oil
Slowly adding water little by little, knead the dough.
The dough should not be too soft but firm
Cover the dough with a soft cloth and let it sit for 10-15 minutes
Roll the dough on a flat surface. It should not be too thick or too thin.
Cut the namakpare from this in diamond shapes
Fry them in oil and put on a paper napkin to remove excess oil
For a healthier version, I prefer to use the air fryer for this recipe. For this, pre-heat the air fryer for 5 minutes on 180 degrees.
Gently put all the cut pieces of the namak pare in the air fryer and cook for 20 minutes till browned. Shake the bowl once midway to ensure even cooking.
Serve this delicious and healthy Jowar Namakpare with your evening tea or pack in your tiffin for a healthy office snack.
